The medical manager of Landspitali hospital does not rule out that recently graduated doctors and nurses might move away from Iceland. Then it is clear that the hospital will not be able to renew its equipment in the coming years because of enormous down cuts.
The administration of Landspitali announced the down cut actions in four staff meetings this morning. The arrangements that were taken earlier this year have mostly vanished because of the weakening of the króna. Three operating rooms are to be closed and then plans are to reduce the purchase and vehicle expenses and change the 24 hour departments to departments that are only open during the daytime.
