Only one helicopter crew will be on call on a helicopter of the coast guard. This is confirmed by Georg Larusson, chairman of the coast guard in a conversation with the newsroom.

For the past two years have two crews been available but because of down cuts at the coast guard have the administration of the coast guard been forced to lay off helicopter pilots and other employees. A part of the layoffs took effect this last spring but a few quit in the end of August.

According to the sources of the newsroom will the helicopter of the coast guard at most be able to fly 20 sea miles out to sea when only one crew is on call.

Then Visir has sources for that one weekend in the end of the month will have no staff on call from the helicopter crew. Geor Larusson says that they will find a solution to that.
